What risk? 1L SAs are widely expected to still do OCI. I don't see this being a problem at all.

On a similar note: what about 2L SAs? Should they still try 3L OCI/job fairs, just in case they are no-offered?

Uh, it should be a problem since 1L SA positions generally come with the expectation that the SA will come back for 2L summer. Plus, the OP said that the partner that interviewed them will be there.

1L SA positions often want people to come back for part of the summer, and don't require the whole summer.
