Depends on where you're at. Boies is pretty sure to match and I would go from there to DLA Piper. Also wouldn't move from WilmerHale to Baker McKenzie or something.

Odds are decent PH matches, and maybe K&S. If you're at any other firm, I'd take the call.
Didn't K&S match, just not announce it yet? There was like half a page worth of discussion about it.

An anon said that K&S sent an email to partners regarding matching in at least some cities.

Right now Atlanta and Charlotte are both 155, 160, 170, 185, 200. Southeast to 165 maybe?
did the 180K raise affect Charlotte/Atlanta?

I think ATL and Charlotte will be getting raises, but def. not moving to market comp.

The 180K raise did impact Atlanta and Charlotte, but it just took longer (like the 190K raise, fingers crossed).
Not sure I'd call Charlotte at 165K nuts, there are already several firms that pay $180/190 in Charlotte. Dechert, Winston Strawn, Cadwalader, Mayer Brown, maybe more. I doubt anyone is thinking Atlanta or Charlotte to 190K though.

Since we are now talking about secondary markets, I am interested in seeing how Seattle shakes out. From there originally and have considered going back. The big California corporate shops there (Wilson, Cooley and Fenwick) have all matched and paid summer bonuses, DLA increased salary but not bonuses, and who knows what K&L and Perkins Coie will do.

Perkins positions itself as the top dog in Seattle, but I would be shocked if they pay summer bonuses based on the firm’s published metrics and salary “bands” (which seems to outside eyes as them trying to fudge their way to paying “lockstep”).

Paul Hastings (kinda) matched salaries and bonuses. Effective July 9, so a little more than a week where we'll be paid lower than virtually every other top firm. Maybe didn't have time to implement raises for paychecks on July 6 (associates are paid every other week). Either way, super unhappy they fucked around this long. It feels a little ridiculous to feel bitter about how the firm chose to announce raises and bonuses, but can't help feeling that way.

As somebody with a slow June but crazy couple months before that, the May 31 lookback date is going to coincidentally work in my favor though.

Really interested to see how the remaining Texas firms like Locke, Gardere, Winstead, etc. handle this now that VE BB Akin all moved. The other regional or bigTex players have already been being poached by out of state firms opening up offices, it will be really tough for some of these places to retain the associates they really want to be the future of their firm if be they do not try to keep up, but at some if their PPP levels it won't be easy to absorb.

With OCI bids due just around the corner, I expect we will see pretty soon who wants to signal they are not going to let the out of state firms roll over them.

Entire PH memo:
The Firm remains committed to paying top-of-market compensation to our associates. Accordingly, we are pleased to announce that the Firm will increase associate salaries and pay a special mid-year bonus to eligible associates. The full-time annualized pay scale and the special mid-year bonus scale for associates in good standing are listed below.

[Milbank/Simpson/Cravath Scale]

Eligibility for special mid-year bonuses will be determined using year-end bonus criteria with respect to hours (based on qualifying hours through May 31, 2018). In addition, an associate who is not eligible to receive the mid‑year special bonus at this time due to their hours will still be eligible for the special bonus, in addition to any year-end bonus, when any year‑end bonus is paid to her or him, as long as the associate satisfies all requisite 2018 year-end bonus criteria. An associate who joined the Firm after June 30, 2018 or who is not employed on the special mid-year bonus payment date is not eligible for the special mid-year bonus. An associate who joined the Firm between January 1, 2018 and June 30, 2018 and who meets the special bonus criteria will receive a prorated special mid-year bonus based on the days worked in that period.

Associate salary increases and payment of special bonuses will occur in July 2018. Salary increases will be reflected in your July 20, 2018 paycheck for the pay period starting July 9, and we anticipate that the special bonus will be paid on July 31, 2018.

Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to serving our clients.

You must not have been around in 2016 if you're expecting Norton Rose to match this latest round of raises. Even in that round they didn't fully match, and it still took them 3 or 4 months.

PH Atlanta associates (all 17 of them) have to be pretty stoked getting market raises and bonuses while their counterparts at K&S and A&B are treated like second-class citizens.

No. That's Duke. Stanford is the Harvard of the West, Duke the Harvard of the South, McGill the Harvard of the Canadians, and Chicago the Harvard of the Republicans.

Vanderbilt is the Harvard of the South. People in the south don’t even consider Duke (or Emory for that matter) a southern school.

Duke is better so makes no sense why Vanderbilt gets the title.

We get One week of below market comp to supplement our two months of below market comp at the beginning of the year.
