Outsider Friendly Markets
Median 1l at Northwestern thinking about mass mailing. From the Midwest, and plan on applying to my home market, Chicago, and NYC. Where else can I apply and have a shot of landing a gig?

Re: Outsider Friendly Markets
I get the sensation that Cleveland is pretty outsider friendly (and has a strong legal market).

Atlanta has a surprisingly wide net. We'll take anyone with either great grades or any connection south of the Mason-Dixon and east of Texas. I'm from Chicago and just said I liked the suburban/urban mix and biscuits and here I am.

Same. I was from Florida, went to a lower ranked T14 with great grades and found it pretty easy to land offers from HK/AB and the like in ATLAnonymous User wrote:Atlanta has a surprisingly wide net. Are great grades going to be required for those markets though? I'm busting my ass hard this semester, but as of now I'm median.

Will be working in ATL this summer. How's the lifestyle so far, in your experience ?Anonymous User wrote:Atlanta has a surprisingly wide net. Re: Outsider Friendly Markets
I did not summer in ATL but as a [BL] ATL associate, I can say the hours are grueling. I belong to the GBA and from what I consistently hear, this is true at all the major ATL firms. I believe we usually have around 20 summers but none were in my group, however, I understand that they do have fun events for the summers, so the experience is probably pretty good.

No interest in the market and happy to be corrected, but our HYS career services page lists LA as not focused on ties.
I was surprised to read that given proximity of Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, USC, etc.

Yes, especially the markets that everyone wants. DC, SF, Texas markets. On top of that, SA hiring is significantly down making it that much harder.Anonymous User wrote:BumpAnonymous User wrote:Is this true for all markets outside of NYC for median t13 students?Anonymous User wrote:as an outsider? yes.Anonymous User wrote:Are great grades going to be required for those markets though?
