Clerkship Bonus No Clawback
Current east coast district court clerk thinking about going to biglaw. Comments about burning bridges aside, does anybody know of any firms that do not have a clawback clause whereby they require you to repay a portion of your bonus if you leave the firm before one (or two!) years?

Not sure this exists. Between friends and myself I’ve seen/heard about offers from various firms and they all have a one year except Quinn which has two (but is 105).Anonymous User wrote:Bump?

I am curious how these clawbacks work. Lets say you stay 8 months, do you pay back the whole thing or the remaining 4 months pro-rated?

Pro-rated of course.

Re: Clerkship Bonus No Clawback
I think it is not pro rated. Most places say you get the bonus as a lump sum when you start and you owe it back if you leave early. That doesn't seem to indicate you'd only have to repay part of the bonus...otherwise they'd pay you that amount in your paycheck over the course of a year...

Where does the clawback actually get spelled out? One offer letter to me says you get paid on the first day and nothing else. Curious if there is another place for it?

OP here. Chose a New York firm that spelled out the terms pretty clearly in their offer letter but if its not spelled out there you probably have to ask.

I presume no one here can answer this, but on the off chance there is, how do they demand it back? Immediately in lump sum?
