Re: Summer Classes 2018 Edition
Nope, not one of the right-leaning firms. I don't know if they made more offers than usual, I think they may have just over-yielded. Probably an outlierAnonymous User wrote:Are you at one of the traditional Republican administration feeder firms like Gibson or Jones Day? Anecdotal, but it seemed like those firms were making more offers for DC at my HYS than the traditional Dem firms like Wilmer or A&P. Would make sense too if it were revolving door-driven.Anonymous User wrote:Anecdotal but my DC firm apparently has a substantially bigger class than last yearAnonymous User wrote:FWIW...Have heard, at least for revolving door DC firms, that summer classes decreased (in some cases dramatically) this year because fewer than usual people joined the new administration. But that doesn't account for NYC or any non-DC firms reducing their class sizes.Pomeranian wrote:I was surprised by the report of the 20% decrease in summers. One would think with the economy growing (plus corporate tax cuts, less regulation, etc), there would be rising demand for legal services???
Edit: accidental anon, don't know how to change it

Their stats from last year had 20 in the NYC office. This seems about right for floating at their current level.RaceJudicata wrote:Woof.Anonymous User wrote:Cadwalader (All Offices)

Re: Summer Classes 2018 Edition
Most of the summer class hails from second or third tier law schools. Not that school diversity is a bad thing per se, but it speaks to a rapid decline. Cadwalader used to be able to snare a handful of kids from Harvard and Columbia; I remember the events it would put on when I was a student. Its reputation has sunk so far over the past five years.RaceJudicata wrote:Not talking about the number.Graybrow wrote:Their stats from last year had 20 in the NYC office. Ahhhh, yeah, that's similar to last year too. Continuing trend in a long sad decline.Anonymous User wrote:Most of the summer class hails from second or third tier law schools. Re: Summer Classes 2018 Edition
So I doublechecked the list and couldn't find the person. On the other hand, there's only 64 associates listed, and I couldn't find where I was missing a person when I did the write-up. So maybe that's the William & Mary personAnonymous User wrote:Isn't there someone from William & Mary going to the Chicago office?Anonymous User wrote:Kirkland Chicago: Total 65 (Last year, 58 associates)

I don't know where the first poster got his/her information, but I have it on good authority that the acceptance rate was higher than in recent years and the class is the largest in recent years.paranormalsescapism wrote:Any more details?Anonymous User wrote:Hogan DC has a substantially smaller DC class this year.
