1L Summer: USAO-SDNY (Civil) v. Mag Judge EDNY
Which is better for someone with BigLaw (litigation) in mind? Leaning towards mag judge because I wanted to do a judicial externship, and all my previous work experience after college was in government (DOJ, state AG) and I'm concerned firms will raise an eyebrow at this/think I'm a flight risk. And is there a difference in prestige between these two options?

it’s still a 1L job, so by definition, is not particularly important or “prestigious.”
That said, it would be asinine to pick the mag over usao sdny. That office is about as good as you can do for 1L sa (absent a paying SA position).
Don’t worry about being labeled flight risk; non factor.

Could you provide some insight as to why USAO work in general (as opposed to it being for SDNY specifically) would set one up better for OCI? And I worked at the USAO-SDNY before law school. Would it be good to get some variety in that case?RaceJudicata wrote:it’s still a 1L job, so by definition, is not particularly important or “prestigious.”

How important is the prestige of your 1L summer job?
