Will this hiring partner inform my boss of my application?
how likely will a hiring partner (of the law firm I am applying for) inform my boss of my job application? My current boss/partner knows/has business relationships with at least the leaders of the group I am applying for (the ultimate decision-maker for hiring). Is there any industry norm, "common sense" or anything like that?

Typically all lateral discussions and moves are held in confidence. Not that you are required to do so, but did you include something along the line of "please keep in confidence" when submitting your application?

Ive never heard of a hiring person snitching out on an applicant. Who would ever interview there unless they dont currently have a job... If the partner snitches, you should out the firm.
