1L SA - Question re: Practice Groups

Post by Anonymous User » Fri Jan 12, 2018 6:44 pm

I have a somewhat dumb question. If a firm wants you to indicate the top 5-6 practice areas you are interested in, does that mean they want you to list general or specific categories?

i.e., does "practice area" mean "Corporate/Business" or does it mean a specific subset of "Corporate/Business" (i.e., private equity, investment, etc.). Both overarching categories and subsets are listed on the firm's website.

This is for a callback.

This likely means smaller subsets within Corporate/Transactional and Lit:
Corporate: tax, m&a, insurance, capital markets, pooled investment entities, finance etc.
Litigation: white collar, complex commercial, securities lit etc
