Secondary Market Salary Scale
I’m in south Florida at a big law firm that pays standard FL market, starts off at 160, 165 next year. I was curious what can I expect for my third year? Very small office so no one to really ask beside the partners. Are they gonna low ball me at 170? Anyone have any insight into secondary markets ?

Re: Secondary Market Salary Scale
Very few firms do Cravath scale. Expect salary scale compression even when starting at 160k.

This is correct. I am at a large regional firm in a secondary market. Starting is 150k, and from what I've heard, raises are small. Perhaps even less than 5k a year.mvp99 wrote:Very few firms do Cravath scale. Expect salary scale compression even when starting at 160k.

I'll be at a Biglaw office in a Southern market. Starting is 150k and I *believe* raises are 5k. Lowest eligible bonuses are also around 5k.
BUT in SoFL and other secondaires, you'll still have an immensely better lifestyle than the 180k in NYC. I wouldn't feel lowballed.

Wow, what secondary markets pay 160? I am in the largest firm in Indy and our starting salary is 115.

That is definitely underpaid for the largest firm compared to other midwest secondaries.Anonymous User wrote:Wow, what secondary markets pay 160? I am in the largest firm in Indy and our starting salary is 115.
STL is at like 130-135 with one at 180
Minneapolis is going to 140 with one at 160
Detroit has a few at 150 or 160
Cleveland is in the 145-160 range
