AUSA Application- Bar Results Pending
I just finished a 2yr clerkship with a federal judge and wanted to apply to an AUSA position in the same district I clerked in. However, the application period ends about 2 weeks before bar results are released. I am currently not barred in any state. Given that I have the post-J.D. experience and can be licensed within weeks of the application cycle, will the AUSA Office consider my application though my bar results are pending?

They can be a little finicky about that. I worked full time as a clerk in the DAs office while studying for/waiting to hear back from the bar, and the applications I’ve done didn’t count that time even though I was employed albu the office working on real cases.

You might as well try, but if it’s posted on USAjobs and it’s the typical application system they generally use, they very well may cut your application for not meeting the required qualifications. They can be pretty mechanistic about those kinds of requirements, I’m afraid.

Out of curiosity, why did you wait so long to take the bar?
