Welcome to biglaw. You can always try to get into the other group but this is a good reason to lateral after a year or so.

Unfortunately, this happens. Your best bet is to try and lateral ASAP. Most firms pay lip service to transferring groups, but it's not easy, guaranteed, nor does it appear there's a need, hence your switch.

This. And nothing makes the god partners angrier than some 1st year wanting to switch to a group that is not making them money. Give the 2nd group a chance but also keep an eye for lateraling. I have seen too many people get burned by trying to force themselves in different groups at same firmLaLiLuLeLo wrote:Unfortunately, this happens. Your best bet is to try and lateral ASAP. PM me if you'd like to discuss this.Anonymous User wrote:I'm going to approach the new group with an open mind but I've never had an interest in it. The whole thing feels like a bait and switch since I wouldn't have accepted the offer into this group when offers initially went out because I had other options. Obviously I don't anymore.
