Radio silence long after firm said I'd hear?
Had a callback and firm said I'd hear back by now. Is there anything I can do at this point? Is this a soft ding?

Most likely yes. you've been dinged. Sorry. At my own firm, if this happened, it wouldn't be for an offer.

Not to unnecessarily raise your hopes, but you may still be in the running. If the firm said you'd hear back within a week, and it's been three... yeah, probably not. But if the firm said 3 days and it's been 5 days, I think there's still hope. Half of my offers this year came well after they said I'd hear (e.g., a week and half although they said "up to a week," six days although they told me 2-3 days).

Does calling recruiting to affirm continued interest hurt?

Will it hurt, if you have no other offers?Damage Over Time wrote:E-mail would probably be betterKijiStewart wrote:Does calling recruiting to affirm continued interest hurt?

Same boat. Have had three callbacks. It has been four weeks for one, two weeks for another, and a week for another. None gave me specific times on when I should expect to hear back, but it isn't looking too good. Here is to holding out hope.

Can I ask what market you are looking for?Anonymous User wrote:Same boat. Have had three callbacks. It has been four weeks for one, two weeks for another, and a week for another. No, it won't hurt. If they told you that you should hear back by X date and X date has gone past, it's totally reasonable to check in on status.Anonymous User wrote:Will it hurt, if you have no other offers?Damage Over Time wrote:E-mail would probably be betterKijiStewart wrote:Does calling recruiting to affirm continued interest hurt?

Similar boat here, I am wondering if it's a soft ding or a wail-list...Anonymous User wrote:Same boat. Have had three callbacks. Random but if you've ever published anything, academia.edu alerts you whenever someone searches your name on google. It's less helpful when you've mass mailed 40 places, but may mean they're researching you after an interview. In my experience, this is a necessary condition to getting a job offer in virtually any field.

First two were in Houston and the last one was in Chicago.Anonymous User wrote:Can I ask what market you are looking for?Anonymous User wrote:Same boat. Have had three callbacks. For what it's worth (similar boat here with regards to Houston callbacks), a lot of Houston is currently underwater and a lot of offices are closed. Most stuff isn't expected to reopen till Thursday at the earliest. So I wouldn't be surprised if any CBs that were supposed to go out this week are being delayed.
