Top 10% at HYS. 2/9/DC clerkship. Offers from a number of firms in LA.
Have narrowed choices down to MTO, Covington, and Akin.
Obviously, MTO is the most prestigious firm for the moment. But I worry that they're living on reputation. And their offices are downtown, which suggests to me that they haven't kept up with the times.
Covington strikes me as the hot new thing in the market, and I think it's clear that they'll be widely regarded as the best generalist shop in LA within 2-3 years, if not sooner.
Akin seems to be modeling a comparable upward trajectory, but is a little better-established.
What should I do?
