Chicago without ties
I'm at a TT in New York. Do I have any shot at a big firm in Chicago without ties? or is it like New York where ties don't matter?

Re: Chicago without ties
Probably will be tough, especially if you don't have any interviews lined up at this point. Chicago firms generally care about ties or at least a desire to remain here. The bigger issue, however, is that Chicago firms tend to skew towards the Chicago schools, Indiana, u of I, washU, and notre dame when they reach outside of the t14.

Ah, understood. Thanks. Would you say that it's not unheard of and that I should still apply, or am I just wasting my time?

There's no such thing as a waste of time when applying for jobs. Apply with the best materials you can put together, and hope that you beat the odds.Anonymous User wrote:Ah, understood. Thanks. Would you say that it's not unheard of and that I should still apply, or am I just wasting my time?

That said, your time would be better spent mailing ny firms.
(This all presumes you have top grades from your school)
