So this may sound insanely stupid...but I've never quit a job before, only done internships, nevermind quitting a law firm......
I'm giving notice in a week once I've accepted an offer from another firm, how do I go about it? Do I tell the hiring partner? Managing? Mentor? HR? Should I walk in first thing and do it or wait until COB?
Any feedback is appreciated thanks.

Re: Resigning Question
Very interested as well as I am in same shoes.
I was thinking -- tell office managing partner. Then your practice head, then all the partners you work for. In that order, in the same day, closer to COB on a Friday so you can GTFO.
Thoughts?

Re: Resigning Question
Depending on the size of the firm, tell your practice group lead first and inform that person that you are going immediately next to the managing partner. Ask each one if there is a process that you should follow regarding whom to tell and in what order. If none, start with partners whom you work with closely and anyone else whose receipt of message you want to control (e.g. mentor, someone whose workload will explode). After two hours, everyone will know. You can contact HR eventually. They have no impact on your brand or ease of transition.

Re: Resigning Question
Doesn't matter. If there is one partner you have a really strong relationship with it makes sense to start there, otherwise just talk to the practice head. Then talk to HR.
