Leaving CA biglaw firm (midlevel corp associate) soon, have two offers. One with internal regulatory consulting (not at a consulting firm - more like internal bank reg consulting) and one is a corporate in-house gig. Don't have a ton of reg experience, and that gig pays less. Also don't LOVE practicing law, but not sure regulatory consulting is enough of a departure from legal practice to be worth the pay cut / career redirection.
Anyone have any insight on the realities of regulatory consulting gigs? I realize I'm being sparse on details here - I guess I'm just concerned that reg consulting is dangerously close to compliance.
