Not being fed on a return visit--is this normal?
Weil isn't feeding me during my second look... instead it looks like an interview schedule minus lunch?:/ Is this normal? Partner and associates seem very excited to have me join the firm, but other firms are offering to wine and dine...

Did you actually go through the trouble of creating an account just to ask this question?runningroyalty wrote:Weil isn't feeding me during my second look... instead it looks like an interview schedule minus lunch?:/ Is this normal? Honestly though, if they aren't going to feed you, it's probably not even worth going.

Sometimes firms do this to test your assertiveness - once it gets to be about lunchtime, refuse to answer any more questions unless they feed you. You can and should pat your stomach and say "[your name] hungry!" to drive the point home if necessary.

It's a second look. You're not that important to them. They'll just hire someone else with equivalent credentials if you go to a different firm.

Huh, now I know why they're so awful to work against. They're hangry.

To put things in perspective, my primary market V10 office didn't even feed me on my actual callback.

To put things in further perspective, you can buy a lot of food with $180,000.

Doing a second look in July seems early. Are you already deciding between your final firms before you even do OCI?

This...honestly I wouldn't want to go to an extra 2 hour lunch with associates anyway. It's a chance for you to screw something up. The firms pay for the meals you buy on your callback trip anyway, so it's not like you're even spending your own money either way.Anonymous User wrote:To put things in perspective, my primary market V10 office didn't even feed me on my actual callback.

Wasn't fed on half my second looks, I'm sure if you asked they would? But it's not like they're not reimbursing you for all your meals during trip anyway, so I don't know what the difference is in the end really...

Feeding you on a return visit is actually the kiss of death.
