DLA Piper Shut Down
This is some shit: https://www.dlapiper.com/en/us/focus/dl ... ck-update/
No I'm kidding but really, I'm sorry for all dla piper associates and I hope this is more free vacation than unmitigated disaster.

Re: DLA Piper Shut Down
ATL reported on this, and it sounds like it could be pretty serious. I know our IT department sent out a warning about the threat and security updates implemented as a result of the DLA Piper breach.

Re: DLA Piper Shut Down
What happens to the associate who clicked on the phishing link? Do DLA's partners each take turns cutting off a piece of him?

I would bet way more on a partner clicking some dumb link than an associate.

This is worse than when K&E remotely wiped half the firms laptops

Is this serious? I do not think it would be a good idea to bring this up in an interview with any firm, let alone DLA. How would you even bring this up in conversation?crumb cake wrote:2Ls take note, something to ask about in your OCI screeners

This is pretty nuts though; I feel sorry for all the associates who are going to have to spend their nonbillables redoing all those docs they lost.

It's not just DLA Piper. Companies all over the world were hit. Maersk and Merck are the two most recognizable companies, but there were also cyberattacks in Ukraine, Russia, and Australia.

Re: DLA Piper Shut Down
Fair point. But the partners will still find someone beneath them to blame it on. "IT guy, why didn't you stop me from clicking on the link promising free viagra? By the way, tell associate to come in. I want him to check with that Nigerian prince when my $10 million will be wired."bk1 wrote:I would bet way more on a partner clicking some dumb link than an associate.

Secretaries can also be clicking this stuff. Also, my firm sent an internal phishing email to teach us what to avoid and it was surprisingly good (though, tbf, the firm is cheating by having information about me that is not generally available).

I thought everyone just insta-deleted any email not from a work provider. I can't remember the last time I read an email about even like my benefits.

Re: DLA Piper Shut Down
it wouldn't surprise me if either admin staff or a partner clicked a link. those are the two groups that seem to intermingle personal shit with their work computer/e-mail
