3.2X at T13. Any chances for NYC Biglaw?
Yeah I know I screwed up badly. I was so sick during the second half of the year. Anyway, the GPA is set in stone. Nothing I can do about it now.
I'm from one of MPVB. Not sure how bottom I am in the class, but it feels hurt even to type the GPA. Any chances for V100 Biglaw in NYC? (leaning towards lit but open to other options)
3+yrs irrelevant WE/a pretty good interviewer & did tons of mock interviews/journal (non-LR)/VP in several student orgs/have ties in Midwest but prefer NYC and have a why-NYC story.
Throw in some inspiring stories! Thanks guys!

Disclaimer: Rising 2L here, just reiterating what seems to be the general sentiment here. Sounds like you are probably a bit below median, so the answer is probably, yes, you have a chance at NYU Biglaw, but you should probably focus your OCI bids on firms with big classes that are less GPA-sensitive.
Inspiring story: My brother was below median at MPVB, ended up at a V100 firm in DC

Went to P. K-JD, Had a 3.33 (roughly on the curve) got about 7 NYC offers (and offers at every Midwest (not Chicago) firm I mass mailed and interviewed with).
You 100% have a chance.
I would mass mail NY/your Midwest Mkt. Starting in a secondary city, lateraling to NY after year 2 is easier then being unemployed and fighting 3L year for a job.
I mean, we had a kid who went 3.1- to a circuit clerkship (basically 2L, 3L straight As) - Firm went from some NJ shop to V3.

It's hard to believe your career services department hasn't given you enough information to conclude that you're competitive for NYC big law with a 3.2. You are. Practice your interviews and you'll have a strong chance of getting at least 1 offer.

Had a 3.28 and 3 years irrelevant w/e and got around 7 offers in NYC (including a V10). Definitely hustle, but don't think you're disqualified with that GPA.

Definitely possible to get NYC biglaw with that GPA. Bid smartly (i.e., the bulk of your bids are firms at or below your GPA with a few above-GPA reaches thrown in) and mass mail for additional screeners. Assuming you interview decently well you have a serious chance. Good luck!

Honestly, a 3.2 isn't terrible. You definitely didn't screw up badly. I'd bet money that you'll get NYC biglaw.

I had a 3.2 something and got BigLaw despite hunting in small southeastern markets. You should be more than fine in NY as long as you massmail early and seem chill in interviews.

The OP asked for inspiring stories. Why are you telling us about someone who wasted their excellent credentials on Skadden?Anonymous User wrote:I mean, we had a kid who went 3.1- to a circuit clerkship (basically 2L, 3L straight As) - Firm went from some NJ shop to V3.
