Work in big law. First year.

I wouldn't. Even part time, it's a significant time commitment. The employer really needs to know so they can accommodate- you are going to have to leave "early" (biglaw early) quite a bit, and if you are continually making up excuses, it will look bad.

Talk to the partners who you work for about it. Most firms are supportive of such things- my old firm even paid.
