You need at least 3 spaces between the FFB and your bid. If I were you, I'd aim for 4 or 5 spaces. Your number one priority should be getting as many interviews as possible. You should go through the data and see what firms have the highest screener to callback ratios, and callback to offer ratios. Use that as a way to narrow down your list.
Rustyburger and jbagel, thanks for the feedback! I agree it's definitely too tight and I needed help picking the right firms to remove. I'll start with Weil and Ropes. Should I cut Sidley as well? They gave 63% of their offers last year to non-stone or transfer students, but they are also ranked so high on Vault that I imagine most of those offers were to median and above grades (as mentioned, I'm 3.0x). That would also move up my entire list.

Sidley's more realistic than Weil or Ropes. If you have a good reason for keeping the firm, I'd consider it a reach and leave it. FWIW, Sidley was one of the firms that asked Petal to call all offer recipients because their yield was way lower than what they expected. Personally, I wouldn't read too much into it, but some posters seem to think those firms will make more offers this year around.

If you're going to throw away bids, why would you not put them at the very bottom? Makes no sense to put them ahead of other firms that you're actually trying to hit.

I have a friend visiting the US (more specifically Boston) for the first three weeks of August, and I promised to visit her one weekend. When do we start hearing back about callbacks, roughly? Would it be best for me to go the first weekend of August right after screeners are over? Or do I need that weekend to prepare as well? Are weekends in August generally just spent preparing for callbacks?

Preparing for callbacks is not really necessary at all. However, just with the logistics of planning, I'd probably stick around during that weekend.
That being said, you'll start getting callbacks after the first day of EIP. Which is to say, during the evening of that day, and certainly during day 2 of EIP.
I scheduled my first callback during day 4 of EIP because my schedule was very light that day.

I don't think you really have to prepare that much beyond looking up your interviewers and trying to come up with a few points about the firm to talk about. If you're going to bid any non-NYC markets, you may have to use Sundays for travel. Hi all - My situation is similar to another poster earlier. Terrible grades (3.0X), non-URM (I think), secondary journal, irrelevant work experience. Rightly afraid of striking out, but staying positive. My strategy: Focusing on firms with no grade requirements, lower percentage of offers to honor students, and good ratios of callbacks. This is my updated (and hopefully final) list. I'm Kent/secondary/KJD
I want DC Lit (preferably white collar defense). Are there any firms that I'm missing? I tried to get the big NY firms(Watchell/CSM/SC/Simpson Thatcher) and then all the good DC Lit firms (plus Munger).
Students have told me that international offices will fly me to the location for a callback, OCS has advised that they will do skype. Any idea which is true?

I want DC Lit (preferably white collar defense). Are there any firms that I'm missing? I tried to get the big NY firms(Watchell/CSM/SC/Simpson Thatcher) and then all the good DC Lit firms (plus Munger).
Students have told me that international offices will fly me to the location for a callback, OCS has advised that they will do skype. Any idea which is true?

Does anyone have any feedback on this? I'm in a similar situation - but definitely non-URM. Should I add Ropes to this list? Are interview dates an issue to consider? My breakdown is 10 on Day 1, 10 on Day 2, and 5 on Day 3 and 4. Is there a strategy to consider and stress out about, or is this something that will just work itself out? Thanks in advance.

While in a perfect world there would be a better balance, this is not atypical. I'd just deal with it unless there are firms on Day 1 or Day 2 you really don't need and could care less about. For the first day, just make sure you have all of your firms, names and relevant info (interviewer facts, firm facts, room number and time) in order. would suggest making small cards with the info, so you can read in the lobby as you wait for the interview. If it's 3 or 4 floors difference, the stairs are probably better than elevator. It will get crowded in the elevators. Outside of that, there's not much you can do if the partner keeps you or holds you up. It may happen.Anonymous User wrote:Are interview dates an issue to consider? That said, 10 is manageable. For the other days, if you feel worried, come in earlier to try and grab some extra interviews (especially on the last day if you are feeling like call backs haven't materialized, assuming you're all NYC).
