Negotiating a clerkship bonus without any leverage
I currently have an offer coming out of my clerkship with a mid-sized firm. The firm does not pay a clerkship bonus. I have other firms that are interested, but probably won't get another offer before the time to accept this one expires. I really like the firm and it's a good fit. Is there any point in trying to negotiate a clerkship bonus even though I don't have another offer as leverage? Who would you reach out to for such negotiation, the hiring partner or the HR person?

They don't need to know you have no leverage and my sense is it is always worth negotiating. If you aren't a douche about it, the worst they'll do is say no, they won't rescind the offer. But while I don't know the answer to your remaining questions, you might want to ask this in the judicial clerkship forum too. More concentration of clerks there.Anonymous User wrote:I currently have an offer coming out of my clerkship with a mid-sized firm. The firm does not pay a clerkship bonus.
