Going back to summer associate firm (V10) after declining offer
I was a summer associate at a V10 in New York. The summer went well and I got an offer. Then, I clerked and ended up working at another firm in a different city. I'm thinking of moving back to NY and would most want to work at that firm. Would that firm take me back? Am I blacklisted? I don't know how this works.

No you're not blacklisted if they offered you before. Just reach out to the hiring coordinator and express your interest of moving back to NY and see what they say.

A V20 would consider taking you back. But a V10? Sorry, I just don't see it happening.

I've heard of it happening, but mine wouldn't take me back when I tried

A bit more of a timeline and story would help us assess.Anonymous User wrote:I was a summer associate at a V10 in New York. The summer went well and I got an offer. Here is my guess as to what happened. Please amend as necessary:
Did you summer, get an offer, accept the offer, then accept clerkship offer, then inform the firm that you summered with that you'd be clerking? Did the firm say that they'd like to have you after the clerkship? Did you then clerk and inform the firm that you'd be working elsewhere?

How senior are you? It's going to come down to whether they need a lateral with your background.
If you accepted your summer offer and then reneged without maintaining good relationships at the firm you could have issues.
