Big Law --> Big 4?

Post by Anonymous User » Thu Mar 09, 2017 5:13 pm

I've seen the posts about the Big 4 accounting firm lifestyle, but what I am curious about is what the perception is of someone that leaves a big law firm and goes to a big 4?

Is this a good career move or could it pigeon hole me into one group for the rest of my career? How difficult is it to go to the government from big 4? How difficult is it to change practice groups within a big 4 group?

And feel free to point me to a thread that discusses this.
Thanks.

Note for background, I am a junior associate without an LLM. Please do not quote as I will delete.

I think most people I have met that lateraled Big Law --> Big 4 started as managers (even those without LLMs). If you want to go from big 4 to government, I would recommend going to a national office in DC. I think people go from Big 4 to gov and vice versa.

This is not identifying + you are anonymous, don't be ridiculous. What group in biglaw are you in now and what group in the big 4 do you want to move to?

The reason I would like others not to quote is so that in the event that I do reveal more identifying information, I would like what is said here to be largely untraceable. However, if you'd rather not acquiesce to a simple request, then I'd rather not address you.
