Can anyone speak to the best LA firms for VC/EC/Tech clients?
How do the Bay Area players (WSGR, Cooley, Fenwick) stack up down south?
I know that Latham and Gibson tend to be the strongest corporate practices in LA, but do they do any of this type of work?

Cooley has basically cornered the silicon beach market in LA.

Cooley is certainly one of the big players and has an office in downtown Santa Monica. I don't think it's fair to say that they have cornered it, though.Atmosphere wrote:Cooley has basically cornered the silicon beach market in LA.
Gunderson opened an office in the heart of Venice (you can spit on Snapchat's facilities from their office) and they are currently building it out.

Re: Emerging Company/VC Work in LA
I was a paralegal at WSGR before I left for law school. We opened the LA office to poach specific LA partners, and, as far as I know, it's a pretty new office for WSGR, so I wouldn't say WSGR is a power player down there yet. But still a decent firm and great on your resume. I'm a first year in Boston and I just worked on an LA deal with Gunderson and the attorney across from me was lovely and pleasant. But most venture deals are pretty friendly, so...YMMV.
