Can anyone tell me what Telecommunications practice group does?
They say they are part of Corporate transactional group but other than that, I really have no idea. What would they do? Informational interviews are not possible at this stage.

I work in telecom. I spend a lot of time on license agreements and negotiating with service providers. What you do will depend on which side you represent and the goal of the practice group. Is it working on behalf of ILECs and MSOs, or on behalf of property owners needing services? Or is it for wireless carriers?
There can also be a lot of regulatory work. For instance, San Francisco is about to pass a crazy-ass telecom ordinance that basically amounts to government taking, which will be interesting to watch. So will the FCC changes under Viceroy Trump.
If it's part of medium-large firm and a practice group within the overall corporate division, that typically means a lot of wireless work as the main wireless carriers outsource legal review. The larger telecom companies usually have in-house legal, although a number of smaller companies outsource work.
