2017 SA Start Date

Post by Anonymous User » Sun Jan 01, 2017 4:49 pm

I *still* haven't heard from my firm when the summer program starts or if there are different options for when to start. I'm trying to figure out how much time I have to take a quick vacation after finals.

I've heard incoming SAs at other firms will start on 5/22--is this standard? I haven't heard anything about the program from my firm at all (other than the holiday swag they sent us).

Is there someone at your school who summered there last year who you can ask?

Maybe someone can also start the Summer 2017 class size thread. I know my firm starts the 22nd.

Wow, I totally forgot about it with finals and I'm realizing I haven't heard anything either, after they said they'd follow up in November. Probably should check in soon I guess

I would expect most firms with one start date to start on 5/22. The big NY firms will often have at least one more option, probably 1 or 2 weeks earlier, and a late option generally for Stanford and Chicago people. If you are at a firm with multiple start dates there is no stigma about taking the late one, though earlier means more money and more time to meet people.

Agree though that the best people to ask are 3Ls who summered at your firm last year.

This is probably a crazy idea but what about asking recruiting?

Never! What if that questions comes off immature to recruiting, who give you a black mark and tell the partnership that you asked a mundane question? Asking recruiting simple questions will go in your personnel file. Don't make that mistake.

It always amazes me how hard people will try to avoid asking recruiting a simple question. Is it that scary to send a quick email?
