4th of July on Tues; SAs get Monday off?

Post by Anonymous User » Sun Jan 01, 2017 2:43 pm

So 4th this year falls on Tuesday. Do you think most firms will give summers monday off as well as tuesday? I ask because I am trying to plan a mini vacation from Friday through (hopefully) tuesday. I assume we will have monday off, but is there any input on this?

Yes, SAs will get whatever day the firm gets as a holiday. You think they'd have the summers come in to an empty office??

Ya you will. Wednesday to Friday that week are also essentially vacation days as most offices will be ghost towns.

Monday, July 3rd actually isn't an official day off at my firm. But even if your firm doesn't have Monday off, no one will be in the office.

You really should be focused on your summer job, meeting people, doing good work and making good impressions instead of trying to plan vacations. Jesus...

Making $36,000 in 10 weeks, eating and drinking to excess, and not doing work is tough. You gotta take a long weekend during that stressful time to blow off steam, you know?

I don't think planning a long weekend is an egregious thing to do. Plenty of time to wed yourself to the firm. Enjoy the long weekend with, you know, your friends/significant other/family. It isn't going to have an impact on your chances at an offer whatsoever. That said, don't take a day off unless the office is closed that day (unless you are in a wedding/death in family).

I guess I'm sorry for trying to plan a trip where my parents come visit? Fucking TLSers act like you're supposed to sit home every day after work as a summer and not do anything. It's a 100% offer firm, and has been for last 4 years. Can you just fucking chill out. All I'm asking is if firms will give Monday off since 4th falls on Tuesday.

You make it sound like I should apologize for having an SA and wanting to plan a trip over a long holiday weekend

Why would you need to plan a trip where your parents come visit? Wouldn't they need to plan that trip?

just chill out, man.. You are going to be fine, and your parents can visit you. Also, definitely don't sit home after work - go out and enjoy the free booze.

Lmao, calm down there champ. I was just giving you shit. I went on a little vacation on the 4th when I was a summer. Though 7 months before seems absurdly early to plan, but what do I know.

Anyway, if you're not sure, and I'm not sure you can be, just ask your recruiter if that Monday is a holiday.

You sound like a bitch. Hopefully you mature and develop a better understanding of the world before you begin practicing law.

But if Monday is a firm holiday, you will get it off. No universal answer it's firm dependent.

But, SAs may have one vacation day during the program, that's not uncommon. I'd assume you have to go in that day but wouldn't be shocked if you could get that day off anyway

Some firms that Monday is a day off, some firms it isn't

Some firms give SAs vacation days, some firms don't

OP- Just ask someone at the firm
