Always been curious, can lawyers at non-law firms (like E&Y) practice law?Anonymous User wrote:yes. for tax llms.ArtistOfManliness wrote:Ernst & Young?

No. Interviewed at Deloitte. They really emphasized the fact that I would not be practicing law, and that as an accounting firm they could not provide legal advice.rahulg91 wrote:Always been curious, can lawyers at non-law firms (like E&Y) practice law?Anonymous User wrote:yes. for tax llms.ArtistOfManliness wrote:Ernst & Young?

Techincally you can't due to Sarbanes-Oxley, but many do in the sense of giving "tax advice" which could include legal ramifications - read: you are providing advice that has "legal components."

Word on the street is that they are extremely active in the cybersecurity space and are starting to provide similar data privacy services as many law firms. It is easier just go to go a big 4 for one stop shop than to go to two separate firms.

Re: EY to 150k
Depending on group and rank, goals are set as a % of full utilization (2,080 hours). Lower ranks such as staff and senior in my group are in the 70-80% range; manager and above are in the 60-70% range. But you also have to "eat" a bunch of time for proposals, admin, and dead deals.

Re: EY to 150k
A friend of mine is a first year senior (JD/LLM). He tells me that his class is making significantly less than the $150k being doled out to fresh hires. He is actively looking to exit, as are others in his group.

I'd be very surprised if EY doesn't gross up its current associates.

Re: EY to 150k
PwC went 140k.
120 + 15 + 5.
Can confirm because I got an offer.
Happy that it went up, but slightly disappointed at not matching with EY. Maybe I should try TIP out after all.
