phone interviews
anyone else get really nervous when talking on phone interviews? Feel like I should be less nervous than an in-person interview, but it seems to be worse. Specifically, I find myself freaking out anytime I mispronounce a word or stumble mid-sentence, or stutter quickly. Basically, it seems I hyper-analyze and hyper-focus onto myself speaking. Any tips on this? I try to be relaxed but I notice myself not breathing and then quietly gasping for air once I finish speaking.

Re: phone interviews
I have this problem. It sounds silly, but it helped me a little to write "SLOW DOWN" in giant block letters in the margin of some document I knew I'd be looking at during the interview (annotated copy of resume, notepad, etc.). Slowing down stopped me from mispronouncing and stumbling as much and gave me a few extra seconds to focus on what I wanted to get across. As usual, though, YMMV.

Re: phone interviews
This is my biggest irritation, and I never could figure out how to correct it. End up leaving gaps waiting for the other person to continue, and then both of us tried to start at the same time.RaceJudicata wrote:ya i do for sure. I also find myself interrupting the interviewer much more frequently.
