What is Pillsbury NYC like?
Anyone worked there, worked with them, or have friends there? Curious about culture and environment, and strength of transactional practice. Thanks.

I'm curious about this because of how many offers they gave to my not-so-great law school relative to how small their class is.

I had a callback there. I thought the people and office were generally okay-not horrible but not great. I got dinged. I haven't heard the results of other people with callbacks. I know their class is small, so maybe that explains how little is known about them.

Re: What is Pillsbury NYC like?
Had a callback and offer from there that I eventually turned rejected. People seemed really friendly, but I had concerns about the firm's financial stability. They've explored mergers with other firms in the past that ended up not happening due to financial issues you can Google about. The firm also has extremely low leverage (about 1:1 partner:associate ratio) which may be good in terms of getting substantive experience early on, but makes you wonder whether they have enough revenue coming in. Partners I spoke to also seemed to worry about the firm's smaller size as an obstacle to generating new business. Practice areas in corporate dept also seem fairly limited to aviation finance. Each office is fairly siloed from the others from what I gathered, which is probably a side effect when your firm is the product of Pillsbury Madison in California merging with Winthrop Stimson in NY merging with Shaw Pittman in DC.

Anon above. Forgot to add that they lost 11 partners to Winston Strawn last year.
