Ropes & Gray?
Ropes gets really good vault rankings for stuff like firm culture, associate/partner relations, etc. Any anecdotes out there as to whether it lives up to its billing as a good place to work?
Specifically interested in the Chicago office, but general info helps too

May not be helpful, but my Chicago screener pushed this suuuper hard in the interview. He talked a lot about culture and their unique black-box compensation system which apparently makes for a better work environment. I am not sure how it all really plays out, though.

Also interested. I would also like a source for the claim that Ropes is black box. Are you sure you aren't confusing Ropes and Jones Day?

Re: Ropes & Gray?
I had difficulties last year getting info about the firm from people not affiliated with the interview process even though I put a lot of effort into doing so. I liked Ropes a lot, but the lack of information made me skittish.

Not in the same way Jones Day is, though, right? It's just that the bonuses aren't lock step. If anyone has more information on Ropes' compensation structure, That'd be helpful.Anonymous User wrote:I've heard it's black box as well.Anonymous User wrote:Also interested.
