What happened here? Did they send a letter informing you that they were not, in fact, impressed with your credentials and they wouldn't be hiring you in spite of a dearth of qualified applicants this year?

The letter itself was standard it just really tickled me because it's on letterhead that includes the name of every single partner at the firm lol.
