Richards Layton or Abrams & Bayliss? Forum

I'm deciding between Richards Layton and Abrams & Bayliss. Anyone have any insight or opinions as to which one to choose?

Right off, Richards Layton is about 10 times the size of Abrams. That alone marks a clear difference in the atmosphere and size of the work/teams you would potentially be on.

For the summer, I assume? If so, I would think that RLF would be more likely to lead to an offer but could be wrong. I would also assume that associate starting pay (160) is better.

All I know is that RLF is one of the DE "Big 4" firms and, among that group, often considered to be the best or second best (depending on who you ask) behind Morris Nichols. Hard to go wrong with RLF if you want to work in DE.

That said, don't know much about the other firm, but they appear to have some impressive resumes on their firm website. Including a former partner, Laster, who now on Chancery.

Oh, and check on the Delaware thread--might be able to find answers there or people who know more about the firms.

I've heard that the pay is actually higher at Abrams & Bayliss since they are "competitive with the New York scale," but I haven't heard from anyone what the actual dollar figure is, or if they made the jump to 180 too.

Are you certain you want corporate lit? If not, then RLF because A&B only does lit. If you are certain you want lit, then it's a tougher decision. I've heard that A&B is a sweat shop, but RLF is going to work you hard too. It ultimately will come down to whether you'd like to work at a large firm or in a smaller office environment.
