Rescinded offers for clerks?

Post by Anonymous User » Thu Aug 25, 2016 2:27 pm

This might be my paranoia speaking, but with reports of imminent recession in 2017 ish, and a looming clerkship, I'm concerned. Has there been any reports during the past recession, of candidates who left the firm for clerkship (with an open offer) having their offer rescinded? Or did the axe come down mostly for midlevels and reduced hiring?

Yes. Plenty of clerks with open offers did not get brought on.

OP anon here. What about those whose offer was for a start date one year out (after clerkship)? Did that make any difference in how firms treated it?

Woah, I didn't realize this was a thing. When did they find out?
