I thought they were personable and seemed genuinely happy. One interviewer emphasized their satisfaction with the work-life balance in the firm which is nice to hear.

I'm a former Stroock associate if anybody has questions.Anonymous User wrote:I thought they were personable and seemed genuinely happy. One interviewer emphasized their satisfaction with the work-life balance in the firm which is nice to hear.
I think I made a good decision going there. But, like most firms, YMMV on work-life balance. It really depends on who you are working for.

Thanks for offering! I thought everyone seemed great at Stroock, and it seemed that there's some pretty interesting corporate work being done there as well. One thing I'm wondering, where did you see most people go that left the firm? Other firms, in-house, midlaw? Also, I'm guessing it was a long time ago so this might not even matter, but do you remember how long it took for you to hear from them after your callback? Thanks again!Anonymous User wrote:I'm a former Stroock associate if anybody has questions.Anonymous User wrote:I thought they were personable and seemed genuinely happy. It ran the gambit. Most people who left at the junior level went to other biglaw firms- usually for various personal reasons. There were quite a few in-house moves in the mid-level and up. I went in-house, though my primary motivation for leaving was needing to relocate away from NYC.Anonymous User wrote:Thanks for offering! Stroock doesn't get much high-level M&A (they are too small for that), but they do get some random interesting/unusual deals. They are stronger on private fund work and structured products. Real estate is also pretty big.
I seem to recall they were pretty quick with the offer after the callback- I want to say it was within 72 hours, but that kind of thing can really depend on when the hiring committee meets.
