Losing it
Starting to lose it, went on a CB on Wednesday, Friday, and then Today. No offers out, only three more CB's left and I really only think I have a chance with one. Why are all these firms calling me back if they are not serious about making an offer. This fucking sucks.

Not all offers come immidiately. Some take a week, once you reach two weeks worry. For now just focus on your CBs left and massmail. It's early.

The firm wouldn't give you a CB if you didn't fit their mold. None of the CBs are reaches. Relax. Also the above is right: massmail to put your mind at ease (always massmail because it does nothing but help).

Sorry. Waiting sucks. You have 3 more callbacks and you need to be chill for those, so do something engrossing that distracts you in the meantime. It'll be ok.Anonymous User wrote:Starting to lose it, went on a CB on Wednesday, Friday, and then Today. No offers out, only three more CB's left and I really only think I have a chance with one. Also, fwiw, I had some CBs last summer that I didn't hear from the firm for 2-4 weeks. Breathe. (and mass-mail)

Re: Losing it
Whoa, whoa, whoa. "Losing it" would be if you had 3 CBs and got 3 dings and only had one CB left. That would be stressful. You've had 3 CBs within a week, and have 3 more to go, and no dings yet from those CBs. This is emphatically NOT a reason to be stressed.Anonymous User wrote:Starting to lose it, went on a CB on Wednesday, Friday, and then Today. I know it's not fun for there to be a chance that you won't get a SA gig. And as long as you don't have an offer there's still a "chance" of that. I get the reasoning. But believe me when I say you have to find a way to manage this stress with confidence and poise. Life doesn't get less stressful when you're (1) trying to make sure you get an offer during SA, (2) studying for the bar, (3) interviewing for clerkships, (4) working as a junior associate, (5) wondering if your firm is the next Dewey/Bingham/Howrey, (6) wondering if rumors of stealth layoffs are true, (7) etc.

Re: Losing it
I was in your boat, except I'd finished ALL my CBs (10+) and hadn't received any offers for a few days and only a few dings. The offers I did receive all took 2-3 days or more (actually about a week on average). By the time my last CBs came around, I was focusing *purely* on projecting a chill vibe (I usually am, but at 0/7, it was hard to show it) and that's where my offers came back the quickest. Just breathe and try to show enthusiasm (not desperation) and wit (and not awkward jokes) and general optimism.
