S&C vs PW (NYC) Forum

Fortunate to have 2L SA offers from both, but hoping for a bit of comparative insight into the pros + cons of work at each. Personally, I am interested in corporate/finance practice with an emphasis on cross-boarder transactions, and am currently considering a long-term career in biglaw (though I realize this may quickly change once I start real practice). Any advice is welcome and would be greatly appreciated, especially that from current/former associates, SAs, etc.

OP here, and thanks for the tip!

just fyi, I don't agree, I think it's fine to post anonymously. If folks are willing to PM you, they can post in the thread and offer to be PM'd--that's the standard practice in this forum.

FWIW, I would go to Sullivan & Cromwell for finance, especially international or project finance.

S&C has a much broader corporate practice and a deeper bench. If you're interested in public company work (which is more likely to be cross-border, imo) then S&C is probably the clear choice here. P, W historically does a lot of private M&A and mainly represents financial sponsors (e.g., Apollo). Also, it's important to note that this particular Apollo team has a horrible reputation.

I know P, W has made some moves lately and is actively trying to build out its public M&A practice. I imagine that recruiters would say that this is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor of what will one day be a pretty respectable group. This might be true and their newest head of M&A is a legend. Kind of a risk though.

Long-term career goals at either of these two firms are silly, imo.
