Are interviewers generally entitled to a response?
Lateral junior here. Interviewed with a firm and really liked it. The partner said they will make a decision soon and i should hear back the following week. The following week came but no response. I waited until week 2 to follow up and to reiterate my interest. It is week 3 now and no response.
Im not entitled to an offer but doesnt the partner owe me at least a quick ding email considering I actually interviewed?

You're coming off pretty entitled lol. Is it rude for someone to interview you and never officially ding you? Yes. Are they under some sort of obligation to let you know they don't want you? No.

Entitled? The expectation of common professional courtesy is now considered entitled? Yikes. OP - unfortunately, you may never hear - but that doesn't make it right. You are entitled to a decision, good or bad.Yeezus Wept wrote:You're coming off pretty entitled lol. Is it rude for someone to interview you and never officially ding you? Yes. We are not entitled to courtesies. Would they be nice? Sure. But a business doesn't have to follow up with candidates they don't even want anyway.RaceJudicata wrote:Entitled? Being upset because a firm won't respond back won't get anyone a job. Best thing to do is keep looking. A firm that doesn't even bother with professional courtesies might not even be a firm OP may want to be in.

The other thing is that hiring timelines are never set in stone, especially since it's also OCI season right now and people are busy. Yes, someone who interviews you should give you a response, but not getting a response by week 3 also doesn't mean you're never getting one. Some employers wait until the whole process is complete to send out dings (especially if they're negotiating with another candidate and might get back to you if that person falls through - since you're a junior lateraling this is possible, it's a different setup than OCI).

You will get a response. Being an asshole about it will help ensure it's not the response you want.

In all fairness, I have emails from the beginning of August that I haven't even had a chance to look at yet. So it may just be that the person is slammed.

I thought we hit it off but guess not. I sent an email last week. Can I follow up again today? Or should I just give it up?
