Office of the Comptroller of the Currency
The federal OCC is doing on-campus interviews at my school. Does anyone know more about pay/job description/exit options for this agency?

Re: Office of the Comptroller of the Currency
If you go on their website, you can find that OCC is on a different pay scale than the General Schedule. The pay will depend on the type of position you get, which for you is likely entry level.
They currently have an opening for an attorney in USA jobs which can give you an idea of what they do. Looking at that tells me that your exit options are likely in corporate setting, whether law firm or in-house, working on financial matters.

Re: Office of the Comptroller of the Currency
They're one of the highest paying and one of the best agencies to work for in the government. Starting salaries are over 100k and go up much higher than other government agencies. Exit options to both firms and in-house are outstanding, but there's not much of a reason to leave because of the high salaries. It's extremely competitive though and unless you have demonstrated commitment to banking regulation you're unlikely to get far.
Another upside is that they have a ton of regional offices throughout the country that do examinations. If you're from somewhere that typically doesn't have a lot of opportunities for government work and you want to move back there eventually, chances are there's an OCC office not too far away that you can transfer to once you get some experience in DC.

Has anyone had a screener with the OCC? If so, have you heard back? When/How

Re: Office of the Comptroller of the Currency
You will have great exit options especially if you want to work in house at a bank that is regulated by the OCC.
There are fewer firms that have robust bank reg practices. But I am guessing you would be a hot commodity for those organizations too. It all really depends on what you do at the OCC.

I think I learned in my banking regulations class that you barely need any credentials to be a bank examiner. Maybe a bachelors. Maybe. And not a wall street target school either.Danger Zone wrote:HelloooDanger Zone wrote:What position are you guys even applying for? Bank examiner?
