CB ding...or what??
Had a CB with a firm two weeks ago (at the time they had made no offers, wanted to take 13 SA). Said I should hear by last week. Heard nothing, expected a ding in the mail, nothing. All I've gotten was an e-mail asking for my race today.

Very much likely a ding. I mean its been two weeks.
Law firms and companies are notorious for getting additional information right before they reject you, instead of you just being under consideration since they did not have all the information.

I'm fairly certain law firms/employers in general shouldn't and wouldn't explicitly ask a candidate for their race in any context, let alone in a standalone communication weeks after interviewing. I think you just fed a troll.merlin- wrote:Very much likely a ding. I mean its been two weeks.

I've received tons of emails asking about my status as a "diverse" candidate either just before or after an interview.4LTsPointingNorth wrote:I'm fairly certain law firms/employers in general shouldn't and wouldn't explicitly ask a candidate for their race in any context, let alone in a standalone communication weeks after interviewing. Maybe I should have added a /s for sarcasm.4LTsPointingNorth wrote:I'm fairly certain law firms/employers in general shouldn't and wouldn't explicitly ask a candidate for their race in any context, let alone in a standalone communication weeks after interviewing. And law firms ask all the time for you to "voluntarily" disclose race, gender, veteran status, etc.

OP here, yes it was an e-mail regarding race/vet status per government contracts.A. If you've actually gone through OCI you'd know you get dozens of those stupid things, b/c every firm that does anything with gov contracting (and other fedgov stuff) has to collect & repor that shit.4LTsPointingNorth wrote:I'm fairly certain law firms/employers in general shouldn't and wouldn't explicitly ask a candidate for their race in any context, let alone in a standalone communication weeks after interviewing. Anyhow, to answer to the anon who is afraid of a ding because its been two weeks. No, its been two weeks and they are asking for additional information (which is nothing special), but shows that there has been no ding mailed out at least yet.

Re: CB ding...or what??
In my troll hunt, I misinterpreted OP's description as suggesting a more reductive/targeted communication from a firm along the lines of, "OP, nice to meet you. What race are you?" Not sure why OP included this as relevant otherwise, but I guess any communication with a firm is a cause for speculation when not much else is knowable at this point.FSK wrote:If you've actually gone through OCI you'd know you get dozens of those stupid things, b/c every firm that does anything with gov contracting (and other fedgov stuff) has to collect & repor that shit.4LTsPointingNorth wrote:I'm fairly certain law firms/employers in general shouldn't and wouldn't explicitly ask a candidate for their race in any context, let alone in a standalone communication weeks after interviewing.
