What's the Deal with Stroock?

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Aug 16, 2016 3:25 pm

Seems like everyone I know of that works there is very happy, they pay market, have healthy rpl and ppp, and do what I understand to be fairly high-level corporate work on Wall Street. Yet they're never really talked about, not vault ranked, and it's kinda tough to find much info on them. Can anyone shed any light on the firm?

Their chambers and partners page has more info about their specific practice groups: http://www.chambersandpartners.com/usa/ ... oock-lavan

My impression is that they focus primarily on NYC and don't really have a huge presence elsewhere. Because of that they are well respected in NYC, but not very well known outside of the city

The (outwardly) least intelligent sorority girl that I met in college now works at Stroock. She's a lovely person and seems very happy as a mid level. That's the extent of my Stroock exposure.

Many of my friends did not bid them because of their name.

I myself hesitated because they are Chambers "banded" in no areas.

I worked with Stroock as co-counsel on a case and they seemed good at what they do, and the attorneys that I dealt with were easy to talk to.

I know some people there who seem to be in the 90th percentile of biglaw job satisfaction. Seems like an ok place.
