Little Frustrated...will firm reimburse?

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Aug 09, 2016 9:07 pm

School had an off campus interview program in my target city (East coast) three weeks ago and I got a CB with a v30. Made it clear to my screener I wanted litigation, made it clear to the recruiter I wanted litigation, and I even get a list of litigation associates I'm going to meet. Anyway got a call today, two days before I fly out, saying, "Lol sorry we are actually done hiring SA for litigation." Anyway I have other offers but I plan on cancelling the CB, just wondering if you think I can get my plane ticket cancellation fees reimbursed.

Were they not paying for your travel to start with?

To the best of my recollection, all my major callback travel arrangements (e.g., airfare/trainfare and food) were made through the firm's travel agency and billed directly to the firm. Are you sure you actually were charged for the tickets in the first place? That seems weird that they would ask you to (even temporarily) bear what could be a significant cost.

I'm surprised you have out of pocket costs. If you're not going to continue with them, no harm in asking for reimbursement. I don't think you would be unreasonable to ask in your case.

I did have interviews where the firm gave an option of booking through the travel agency or sending them the receipts for reimbursement. In those cases, I always opted for the latter to get those points.

You know you can just request a particular airline with the firm and provide your rewards #, right? That's what I've been doing...

If you pay for it yourself, you get the credit card points and the frequent flyer points.
