What is the average median GPA of most tier 1 schools?
I have a 3.2 cumu GPA at a t25-t30 school. I am trying to gauge how bad this is considering everyone seems to have 3.7+ on tls

Most people on TLS are not at median or are at schools with massive grade inflation. However, to answer your questions at a school 14-20 where median is roughly 3.3.

T14s with letter grades and curves generally curve to a 3.3, give or take some. T20s vary a lot more. UCLA/Minnesota are around 3.0 while WUSTL apparently curves to a 3.55. Most schools will curve to a 3.3 though.

That being said, most upper tier 1 schools do not release class rankings as public information, so employers are left guessing what median actually is. The curve doesn't match entirely with rankings, since even people who book classes might occasionally get a B or B+ in a different class.

I clicked a few of those source links, and all of them lead to 404 errors. Do not rely on that data.registering wrote: For more information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_l ... GPA_curves

This is completely school dependent man, ask someone at your OCS where a 3.2 puts you.

You are partially correct - WashU mandates a median for every class at a range from 3.49 to 3.55. So I would guess (even though many classes do curve to 3.55) that it's slightly lower. Also, to add on, I have heard that Northwestern curves similarly to WashU.registering wrote:T14s with letter grades and curves generally curve to a 3.3, give or take some. T20s vary a lot more. Also firms know what they are for each school. Not comparing your raw gpa to another school raw gpa.
