Is it a big no-no to follow up with a phone call if it's been 3-4 weeks since a panel interview?[/quote]

My panel was also 4 weeks ago (three if you don't count thanksgiving), and I am wondering what to do also. I haven't heard back either.

Can't speak to the "no-no-ness" of it, but I can tell you it was almost 6 weeks before I received any info after the panel

I would reach out to manhattan or brooklyn. I reached out to them and they were super nice about it and just said that my application is still pending but to let them know if I get any offers. They don't mind people reaching out.

It's fine to reach out if you haven't heard back in a couple of weeks, especially if you get movement from another place. When I applied in a different cycle I had a clerkship call back and I updated all the offices.

Congrats, I was a Johnson hire, but I've talked to laterals who interviewed with Clark.

It's going to be pretty short and I think the mood reflects the mood in your panel. I think if she sees that you had ball busters in your panels, she'll take it easy on you, whereas if she sees that you may have had an "easy" panel, she'll challenge you a little bit. I've also heard she asks about your writing sample. Her second in command, Dawson, will likely be there and may ask you a few things about your resume, but its her show.

At this stage the best advice I can give you is to relax. No one gets hired just because of their performance in those five minutes. You got yourself this far so trust yourself.
Hi, I have my interview tomorrow morning-- do you have any advice for any questions I should ask her. (I guess this really depends on how much time is left of the interview) I wonder how many ADAs they will be taking for the class of 2017.
BXDA oldtimer here. Rumor has it that they are not impressed at all with what they've seen. Just come in there with a pulse and you will be ok.

Within third round interviews or overall?
Overall. Generally speaking.
Bronx ADA here.

I heard this too. The shocking thing was that there were so many people interviewing for OCI that had never taken crim pro. Like an interviewer reached out to the school to check that there wasn't a weird fluke that it wasn't offered for 2 semesters or overlapped with a required class.

Nope, people couldn't be bothered or lacked that commitment to criminal law.
This is terrible. As if we don't lose enough.

Can anyone guess a reason for that? Would you guess that Bronx specifically is just being treated as a last-resort option for people who didn't get SAs, or are ADA positions generally being treated as last-resort options? Or are applicants this year just overall weak?

I mean, at the school I'm thinking of, the people who are applying for BXDA OCIs are also applying to all the other DA offices. Like, if you get one OCI, you get the other office's OCIs. I think it's really just with Manhattan that people try to do "one office or bust" and so not everyone gets a Manhattan OCI.

As to people settling for DA gigs because they crashed out of the SA track, that happens to an extent every year and those people generally get filtered out. The hiring process favors applicants with demonstrated commitment to public interest/crim law practice rather than grades. What was weird this year was the amount of people with general public interest/crim law commitment (to get selected for OCI), but no crim pro classwork. This year may just be a popular year for PD applicants because someone clearly took crim pro at that school.

So it could just be a shitty year for applicants. I'm a fairly recent hire myself, but everyone in my school's ADA OCI cohort took at least one crim pro class, if not both.

As an aside, I'd love to find out each office's class of 2016 bar passage rates and compare it to classes prior.

I applied to BXDA with a future DA internship planned (not at BX) and crim pro on my transcript, and didn't get an OCI (likely because I've been working at a civil firm for several years). May be kind of petty but this makes me lol.

"Future DA internship planned"

Do you mean you just applied to BXDA for a summer internship?

FWIW I couldn't even get interviews for summer DA internship positions at any office (for both 1L and 2L) and I'm currently a BXADA. Ended up at a government internship and then a judicial internship. Managed to get a school year position though and was able to demonstrate my worth that way. It is tough to get that initial foot in the door.

Nah I already got a clinic/internship position at one of the other NYC offices. I applied for actual jobs during OCI, and BX was one of the few that dinged me. At the time I figured it meant that there were a ton of people who showed more commitment to crim law/pros work than I did (i.e., had taken more of the relevant coursework than I had, more internships, etc.), but I'm lol-ing because it sounds like maybe that's not the case.

Ah.

Internships and relevant experience is valued more than coursework, but by right an applicant really should have both.

May I ask why you did so much civil if you wanted to do crim?

Any reason why the spreadsheet is down or did someone delete it?

I think only like 2-5 people actually put any info in the spreadsheet, so it wasn't all that helpful anyway.

Any recent offers/dings/notifications of next steps? Wondering if all that stopped because of the holidays, or whether people are still hearing from certain offices.

As long as you haven't heard otherwise, you're still in the running. No news really is good news :) Also, I'm already admitted so that could have been a factor. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

How much time passed between your panel interview with the Bronx DA and when they called you to schedule your 3rd and final interview? I had my panel interview in November and have yet to receive a phone call or snail mail regarding if I'll be given a final interview. Advanced thanks for the input.

Via a phone call or by snail mail (or perhaps by other means)?

Different anon, but I had my Bronx panel just before Thanksgiving and I heard back last week (with a phone call) to schedule my 3rd round interview.
