Is 19 Interviews Way Too Many?
I got 19 interviews for OCI. Is this just too many? Whats the normal amount?

Re: Is 19 Interviews Way Too Many?
I interviewed with 54 firms last summer and turned down 40 or so offers (many of them V10s). I would recommend taking as many interviews as you feel up to.

Re: Is 19 Interviews Way Too Many?
Before the snarky replies, no, it is not too many and the more interviews the better until you get a job. I had 30-35 interviews in my four days of OCI. That was on the higher side (most of my classmates were around 20-25) but was certainly not the highest nor was it too many.

wtf my school offered like 30 firms to bid on. at most someone had like 4-5 interviews the entire OCI. T14 is better than the rest for this reason.

I think that is a fairly normal number of screeners to have at a t-14. Go to all of them, unless you already have an offer and can be picky.

Until you get an offer, that's when you limit yourself.

I'd say it's not the # of interviews, but the timing. Did you schedule these 19 interviews back-to-back? Are they all on the same day?Anonymous User wrote:I got 19 interviews for OCI. Is this just too many? Whats the normal amount?

God you sound like a masochist. If you presumably had so many offers already, why did you continue going on callbacks?FuturePaulClement wrote:I interviewed with 54 firms last summer and turned down 40 or so offers (many of them V10s). I would recommend taking as many interviews as you feel up to.

Anecdotal. Mid to upper twenties at a T14 sounds right. Then it gets down to callbacks.

I had around 20 screeners and at first I thought it was too much. Then I only had a couple of callbacks. And then I got only one offer - though thankfully from a firm that I really liked. Unless you have 30+, don't turn down screeners. Especially if you're in a competitive market and/or aren't a great interviewer.

This would have been better flame if he had said "most of them V10s."ek5dn wrote:guy's a bit of a troll. likes to post in the WashU thread. Is 20 interviews at PVD at median too little? Just got our oci schedules. I feel like its light but best I can do is hustle. Damn lottery balls.

Re: Is 19 Interviews Way Too Many?
Depends on the PVD. I'm at Penn, and I think 20 screeners is pretty safe at median, if you're looking at big NY firms, but it'll depend a bit on your interviewing skills. However, if most of those screeners are for a place like DC, you're in danger of potentially striking out (not trying to scare you, but I tried very hard for DC and it's a very grade sensitive place. I was also born and rasied there, so I've lived there for over 20 years and only moved away for undergrad/LS).Anonymous User wrote:Is 20 interviews at PVD at median too little? I'd still keep taking screeners until you get the offer.

Another Penn here. If these 20 are NYC, you should be fine. Last year, I think most of us were mid to upper 20s. You can also pick up screeners by hanging out in the hospitality suites for the firms you didn't get and asking the recruiting coordinator to squeeze you into a slot (a friend actually got a callback out of just chilling and talking up the associates).Anonymous User wrote:Is 20 interviews at PVD at median too little? Re: Is 19 Interviews Way Too Many?
Guessing this is Duke as OCI schedules came out today. 20 is not crazy low but is probably on the low side, though this varies by market. There should be an opportunity soon for you to sign up for open slots with firms that didn't get enough bids - I would feel safer if I were you by grabbing a few of those. The more interviews, the safer you will be. But 20 is not an absurdly low number at Duke anyway.Anonymous User wrote:Is 20 interviews at PVD at median too little? Just got our oci schedules. I did over 30 screener and got one offer, so like, don't underestimate how unlucky you'll get (or how bad of an interviewer you are, in my case).

19 interviews sounds like a terrible time. Have no idea how people could suffer through 30+ interviews over a few days.

Re: Is 19 Interviews Way Too Many?
Is that a question? I hope so. Otherwise, it's not worth it. Even if they get one, I don't know if it's worth it. Maybe I'm just a crazy person, but interviews are mentally exhausting. Especially when I have a bunch in a row.A. Nony Mouse wrote:Because they want a job?lawman84 wrote:19 interviews sounds like a terrible time.
