Firms with hard cutoffs

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Jul 18, 2016 2:50 pm

Hi all,

First I am anon just because I have some info on my account I would prefer others not see from my school.

Question: What firms have a hard GPA cutoff? I'm talking like if below a 3.5, no interviews for anyone. Im at a mid-t14. The reason for asking this is career services hasn't been explicitly clear on what places have a hard cutoff and others have a more soft cutoff (for example say no one under 3.4 but they still offer some 3.2 kids).

Thanks.

Almost every firm has soft cutoffs at most. Be very careful about believing anything you see to the contrary - I personally know people who have received offers from firms notorious for being grade stingy while having GPAs under that threshold.

Yeah, I worked at Latham and one time saw our cutoffs for each school. But there were always exceptions for diversity candidates, friends of friends, special hires, etc. So yes, keep cutoffs in mind. No firm is completely rigid on them 100% of the time.
