waiting on interview schedule... when can I follow up?

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Jul 13, 2016 11:44 am

I applied and got an email from the recruiter saying they are interested in interviewing me. then the recruiter says he/she forwarded my app to the office where i want to work and that they will contact me shortly with an interview.

This happened a week ago. granted there was the holiday 3 day weekend, but when is it appropriate to follow up on the same email? There seems to be a 2-day response delay from the recruiter based on my previous interaction with her, so it could be that they are really busy. i dont want to give them reasons to be annoyed.

In a similar situation but I'd wait at least another week. The recruiter is probably waiting for associates/partner to give them time availability and then coordinate the final interview schedule. The back and forth outside of traditional screening/CB location and time probably is taking a while.

I am in the same boat and have been waiting to lock down a date since last week. Just curious if the Bay Area market tends to be slower because my friends who are targeting New York have been seeing a lot of movement quickly.

CA tends to be slower because of the smaller class sizes, SF tends to be slower than LA because of the even smaller sizes. Mass mailed in early June targeting CA, all my requests and rejections have been from LA, heard nothing from SF yet.

IMO, wait two weeks; one week may just mean they're having trouble scheduling all the personnel who will interview you/fitting you in with the other interviews they have scheduled.

If you haven't heard after two weeks, it's more likely to mean you fell of their radar, and that a reminder would be helpful.

What LA firms have you gotten interviews from if you don't mind me asking? (if you don't want to post could you PM me?) I've had a few SF interviews over the last few weeks but didn't get them from MM

So if a firm decided to backtrack and not interview you, do they usually let you know or just drop you cold?

I followed up yesterday and got my interview scheduled. Apparently they forgot.
