Did the recruiter just cancel my screener? Forum

So this series of events just happened:
1. Recruiter calls me, tells me they saw my mass mail and they want to have a phone or in person screener this week.
2. I say ok, great. Recruiter says she'll get back to me with time.
3. Recruiter emails me and says, "actually, can you come to our firm reception instead."

So my question is, is my screener canceled? Are they going to interview me during the reception?

IF it is cancelled, then it's no big deal. I was going to bid on the firm anyway at OCI. I just have no idea how to respond to this.

Go the the reception and don't be weird; you'll probably get a callback. Treat it like an interview in how you interact with people.

Looks like they will have a screener during the reception. Get prepared.

They were probably interested in your resume before they knew they were having a reception or before they had decided to invite your school or you to it. It won't be as formal as a screener but you could certainly parlay it into a callback. Be sure to talk to the recruiter you spoke with and attempt to actually talk to attorneys.
