I am a second year associate in a well-regarded national firm that is nonetheless, not "tippity-top" in L.A. for litigation (think WH/Akin/MLB).
I was top 1/4 at MVP but have not yet mentioned to grab a clerkship (though I would like too).
Dream: hueston hennigan, but that's a longshot.
So... how realistic is L&W, GDC, OMM? If anything, I'll get paid better.

Re: Lateraling up?
experience almost always trumps "firm" rank in lateralling, especially as u get more senior. id urge you to think more about culture fit than rank once u start and stop thinking about vault. id rather be the tippity top associate at paul hastings than a bottom 10% associate at irell.
